Just thinking
This year there were also the Olympic Games in Paris. As we found the stadium in Paris impressive from some videos/photos, and as we hadn’t made it there last year, we really wanted to go to Paris this year (and definitely before the Olympic Games). We had thought about taking the TGV this time. It was just a little brain fart. I’ve always wanted to travel by TGV. I even used to have it as my favorite in a quartet game. On the way back, we also wanted to take the TGV, but we wouldn’t be us if we didn’t go to another game on Sunday. After a bit of research, we chose the game in Frankfurt on Sunday. For one thing, Frankfurt is still relatively easy to get to from Paris. They were hosting the Panthers. We hadn’t seen either team on camera yet this season. So perfect! After all, both were declared contenders by many before the season. So this could be an exciting game. The only problem was that the TGV left too late and staying overnight in Paris was already inhumanly expensive shortly before the Olympics. Well then, from Hero to Zero… from the TGV on the outward journey we probably took the Flixbus on the return journey to Frankfurt. Frankfurt – Stuttgart, on the other hand, is no problem at all. It’s not very far away, and you practically have the full choice: IC, ICE, Flixtrain, Flixbus. So we opted for the Flixtrain. Why? Because of our 34 kg suitcase and because it’s simply more comfortable.
Goals for the trip
We really didn’t have many goals this time. It was just a football trip, nothing more and nothing less.
- Travel as cheaply as possible despite outward journey despite TGV
- If possible, do not sacrifice any vacation days.
- Back home on Sunday evening.
- Traveling with our large photo case. (it simply has everything in it).
- Sleeping a little on the way from Paris to Frankfurt?

The plan
Somehow, unfortunately, our plan wasn’t really how we ended up spending the weekend. We found out that there was no train to Frankfurt at that time (after the game at 4pm). So we had to take the good old Flixbus again. But that shouldn’t be a problem (we thought). We thought that after the game we’d race to the bus station as quickly as possible (we’d never been to the bus station before), maybe buy some food for the journey there and wait a bit until our bus left at 9:30pm. After arriving in Frankfurt, there would then be enough time to grab a bite to eat and finally be at the stadium for the game (kick-off at 1pm this time). The journey home should then actually go quite well. The Flixtrain left Frankfurt Süd at 7:30pm (we already knew it and it was much more pleasant than the main station). So we wanted to arrive in Stuttgart at 9pm. We managed to get a seat with a table on the Flixtrain again. I wanted to edit a few photos on the way home and send them out. That was the rough plan, and it wasn’t too expensive. There were a few points for our Frankfurt scale again, but in general it sounded like a stable plan. In the end, it was much more strenuous than expected.
