The effort in the bones but still see something of Madrid
It’s not easy to imagine, but it’s a bit exhausting, what we always do. I’m sure it has something to do with the conditions ; )
But we really wanted to explore Madrid the next day. So that’s what we did. We went into the city, visited the palace and went to the roof terrace of the Riu. The luxury hotel Riu Plaza España is located on Plaza de España in the emblematic Edificio España building, between Gran Vía and Calle Princesa, Madrid’s traditional shopping street. The square, one of Madrid’s most famous squares between the old town and modern Madrid, is located between two skyscrapers, the Edificio España and the Torre de Madrid. Plaza de España consists of a spacious green area, a water basin and a large monument dedicated to the Spanish national poet Miguel de Cervantes. The poet Cervantes looks down from his seat at the characters in his novel: Don Quixote on a horse and Sancho Panza on a donkey. We ate something there and enjoyed the view. It was nonsense about the food, as we still had half the supermarket in our accommodation 😉 The sights are definitely worth seeing. The walk to the palace is also worth it, even when it’s over 30 degrees in the shade. It’s actually really hot in places in Madrid anyway, but if you’re not sitting directly in the sun, it’s really quite bearable. The humidity and a light breeze made it relatively pleasant. However, we clearly noticed that we had a game and a trip in our bones. In the end, we took a leisurely walk back to our accommodation. The next day we set off to the airport in comfort. We took the €33 cab option again.
