Challenges
Clearly the biggest challenge this time was that the kickoff times were both very late. Both games had the late 4:25pm spot. Of course, that doesn’t make traveling easy. The other challenge, which is also sometimes the result of the late kickoff times, was traveling overnight twice in a row and then traveling to the second game on the second day. Not only does that mean traveling all day again with suitcases, but it also means that we are already two stinkers on the road on the second day. The third challenge was clearly the fact that we couldn’t book any special luggage with Flixbus. The quick redistribution after the game so that both suitcases remain under 25 kg is a real stress factor when the bus is tight anyway.

The Frankfurt Scale is a scale I invented that expresses how antisocial the behavior is. Many factors play a role here, why Frankfurt Scale? More on this later.

Rating Seamen Milano
JUST SHOTS RATING 90/100
- The Velodromo is very easy to reach in Milan. It is not far from Lampugnano train/bus station. +
- Prices at the Velodromo are absolutely fine. The Argentinian barbecue stand is something different and really good. +
- Unfortunately there was no real power party, I don’t know if that justifies a deduction, but it probably wouldn’t be worth it. And it was appropriate.
- The people at the franchise were very, very nice. We were very well looked after and were allowed to store our suitcases. +
- The Velodromo is a little strange and strenuous to walk on with its circular track, but it is incredibly pretty! Visually a real gem. +
- The Seamen are extremely informal! The players all know the people from the small stands outside, etc. It’s really nice and totally approachable. We haven’t experienced it like this anywhere else. (except maybe Prague). +
- No mascot, but Jack Sparrow instead! Absolutely cool! ++
Seamen Milano has always been a friendly franchise for us (and even more so after our visit there). The incredibly familiar overall impression there makes them something special. Jack Sparrow, who plays the role of the drunken pirate passionately well even before the stadium, is a real firecracker.
Of course, we always write from the perspective of photographers who are guests at a franchise. In general, however, there is always a lot of overlap with the impressions of a “normal” visitor.
Rating of the Munich Ravens
JUST SHOTS RATING 92/100
- The Sportpark Unterhaching is simply perfect for American football. +
- We were always treated incredibly nicely and well at the Ravens. Shoutout also to Isabel. Always a pleasure to meet you. ++
- The power party at the Ravens is second to none. It is cleverly integrated into the parking lots, not too crowded. There are plenty of food and drink stalls and lots of activities for children too. The stage program is always quite nice. +
- The communication (for example about lying down near the edge of the field) was always friendly, downright funny and nice. +
- Every time the Ravens play, there are improvements and new features. The only franchise that noticeably improves and develops from time to time. ++
Despite the good structure, the Ravens have always been good to us. We also always had the feeling that both the players and everyone else there were very approachable. The Sportpark Unterhaching is really almost perfect. We also think that the Bavarian theme is really great and the black and blue flag, for example, is really gigantic!
