Just thinking
Last season we wanted to go to Milan to see the beautiful stadium. At least the skyscrapers in the background and the lighting during evening games were really beautiful and worth seeing. Unfortunately, we just didn’t make it last year. That’s why we wanted to go to Italy relatively early this season. The Mercenaries from Switzerland were also visiting and we wanted to take photos of them without having to go directly to Switzerland. We also knew a few players and people from the Seamen and somehow we really liked the franchise. What’s more, Milan is simply a great city. We’ve been here on vacation several times and have always loved it. So Milan was a foregone conclusion. It’s also a relatively good connection with the Flixbus. But of course, that couldn’t be it. So after the game with the Seamen on Saturday, we wanted to take in another game on Sunday. There wasn’t much choice, and in the end there wasn’t much to think about. The Munich Ravens were doable and we always felt comfortable there. They hosted the Prague Lions at their home sports park. We hadn’t had them in front of the camera either… perfect. It was clear to us: this is the way to go!
Goals for the trip
To be honest, we had really few goals this time. We already knew Milan quite well (a total of 5 weeks in Milan contributed to this) and Munich anyway.
- Travel as cheaply as possible.
- If possible, do not sacrifice any vacation days.
- Back home on Sunday evening.
- Traveling with our large photo case. (it simply has everything in it).
We had actually planned to have a trip that wasn’t overly strenuous this time. After the initial planning, however, the topic was also ticked off. In the end, it was somehow practical again without sleep or overnight stays in the bus and extreme exhaustion. What can I say… You get used to it.
The plan
The plan was good at the beginning, but unfortunately not everything worked out as perfectly as we had imagined. But we also really wanted to manage without an overnight stay. The problem was that we didn’t have that many connections available and some were almost fully booked. In addition, we could no longer book special baggage. This meant that after the game in Milan, we had to quickly distribute the equipment between the photo case and the suitcase in order to stay under the 25 kg limit. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the table either (on the journey from Milan to Munich). So we had to plan a little differently than originally thought. So we would take the Flixbus from Stuttgart to Milan at midnight. We then arrived there at 7am. Kickoff in Milan was at 4:25pm. So we had more than enough time there. After the game we went relatively quickly to the Lampugnano bus station, from where we took the Flixbus (again overnight) to Munich. Arrival there again at 7am. Our rescuer, Dominik, would pick us up there again. We would then have a quick shower at his place (after all, we had spent 2 nights without a shower and without accommodation). From there to the game at 16:25 in Unterhaching. And then (that was the plan) we would drive from Munich ZOB to Stuttgart at 21:20. Arrival was then at 0:20am … but at Stuttgart airport. We live in Leonberg. That’s not a world trip, but of course it doesn’t make it any better. At least we got a table this time. Ok, yes, it sounded a bit stressful. You have to be honest. But it also sounded like an adventure 😉 However, we later changed our plans. And that was a good thing. But for now, let’s get on with the adventure!
