- Nils Schauerte began his American football career in 2020 with the AFC Brilon Lumberjacks, mainly as a wide receiver, but also trained as a kicker.
- After two seasons cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, he moved to the Paderborn Dolphins in 2021 and concentrated fully on special teams following shoulder surgery.
- After the Paderborn Dolphins were promoted to the GFL 2022, where he was mainly used as a kickoff specialist, he took part in the scouting camp for the German national team and was called up to the national team on March 28, 2023.
- Due to a professional relocation to Düsseldorf, Schauerte moved to Rhein Fire in the ELF in June 2023, won the ELF championship but did not appear in any games.
- Schauerte returned to the Paderborn Dolphins in March 2024.
