- Bombek began his American football career at the age of 16, after first playing soccer.
- He played for both the Hamburg Swans and the Hamburg Young Huskies and was mostly used as a linebacker, but also as a quarterback.
- Bombek played for the Austrian junior national team and became European junior champion in 2015.
