Hammer transfer for the Vikings
The Vienna Vikings have landed a major coup by signing Swedish offensive lineman Victor Stoffel. The former D1 player brings experience from the highest NCAA league and an impressive physicality that will further strengthen the Vikings’ experienced offensive line.
College career At Temple University, Stoffel started his final 20 games at right tackle and was named a game captain five times. In 2023, he was named All-American Honorable Mention and All-Conference Honorable Mention by the College Football Network.
Vikings head coach Chris Calaycay on the signing of Victor:
Victor is one of those European talents and stories that make the European League of Football so great. Having him with the Vikings this season was a combination of incredible timing and chemistry. His number of starts, his size and skill, and his level of play make him one of the most exciting additions in the entire league. We can’t wait to finally have him with us in Vienna.
In 2024, Stoffel transferred to the University of California, Berkeley as a graduate transfer, where he played in all 13 games last season against some of the best teams in the nation.
Why Vienna? The Stockholm native is excited to be playing in Europe again and will be making his first appearance in Austria. The former all-conference lineman commented on why he chose Vienna:
The city and the successful team. I love traveling and Vienna was a place I had never been before. It’s a beautiful city and has a great football team that has been very successful in the European League of Football.
My goals are to have fun and dominate in the process. The goal is always to win the next game and pile up those wins to get to the final and win the championship.
Stoffel joins a strong offensive line in Vienna that includes Lukas Holub and Tony Koskinen. The Vikings unit hopes to protect returning quarterback Ben Holmes well as the Vikings make another run at the title game in September.
