We had nothing
When you move into an apartment and then head out for a weekend, you should of course stock up first. We were a little curious to see how this can be done in Madrid. Both in terms of prices and opening hours at the weekend. But it was actually much more relaxed than we had imagined. There were a few smaller 24-hour supermarkets in the immediate vicinity, like corner stores. There was also a small supermarket that also had a counter with pastries and Spanish specialties. The prices were really reasonable … in short … the trolley was full (we may have gone a little overboard). We wanted to try everything. So we took everything back to our apartment and then “wandered around” a bit.
Vallehermoso around the corner
Yes, we actually walked out of the small path from our accommodation and we could already see it … the Vallehermoso stadium on the other side of the street. This is where the Madrid Bravos play their home games. And it looks really nice from the outside. The whole area looks beautiful. Everything there is very well-kept. I’m not saying that it’s like this everywhere in Madrid, but at least in the places we went, it was… and especially in Vallehermoso (that’s not just the name of the stadium, it’s also the area). We really wanted to stop by the stadium, but got stuck for ages in the beautiful park right next to it. It’s a really big park that has everything families and especially children could wish for. As in many other places in Madrid, there were also plenty of opportunities to get free drinking water at small fountains. The park is definitely worth a visit if you are in the area anyway. It’s a great place to relax a little on one of the benches. After a short walk, we passed by the stadium and had a look at where we would be the next day. That was pretty much it for the day. We then enjoyed our roof terrace for a while and had something to eat before rounding off the evening.
