just thinking
Last season we were at the season opener in Munich (Unterhaching). The Raiders were the guestteam. The game was a real offensive firework with a final score of 59:38 for the Raiders Tirol. It was also the very first game of the then new franchise “Munich Ravens”. A day, a game and an event that we will definitely remember for a long time to come. BUT: There is also a negative point… how could we top that this season? It was clear that we had to go one better this season. We really wanted to go to the season opener … so we had to plan a trip to Hungary. The first game was the Fehervar Enthroners vs Vienna Vikings #ENTvsVIK . But somehow that wasn’t enough for us. That’s when we discovered the game in Wroclaw on Sunday. The Panthers would then host Berlin Thunder.
Goals for the trip
Planning our Week 1 was practically the most elaborate thing we had ever planned of this kind. Two unique cities in two very different countries, each with different currencies. But we had a few goals in mind, and we were determined to achieve them.
- The opening game Vienna Vikings @ Fehervar Enthroners
- View Budapest.
- The game Berlin Thunder @ Panthers Wroclaw in the big Tarczynski Arena
- See and experience something of Wroclaw.
- To get back to Stuttgart from Wroclaw as quickly and cheaply as possible.
- Traveling with our large photo case. (it simply has everything in it).
The plan
It might be hard to imagine, but it’s pretty difficult to get to the games on time without taking too much vacation. So we had to take one or two overnight transfers. We found the Austrian Railways night train for the journey to Hungary. We then booked a hotel in Budapest (highly recommended). We would then check out of the hotel in Budapest on Saturday, take our suitcases to the stadium, and after the game go straight to the bus station in Budapest. From there we would then take the Flixbus to Wroclaw in Poland (overnight). However, the game in Poland takes place at 1pm. So again with suitcases to the stadium. After the game, we would go to the hotel, where we would process photos and sleep. The next day we would then take the Flixbus to Berlin and from there the Flixtrain to Stuttgart. The plan is set, there’s enough potential for problems… so off we go on an adventure!
