First Hoam to Dominik
On Thursday lunchtime, our Flixbus left Stuttgart for Munich. We wanted to spend a relaxing day with Dominik. And yes, we returned from Week 01 late on Monday evening and started our Week 02 adventure on Thursday. Apart from the short planning time, that was a challenge in itself. After all, we also had to edit and publish the photos. Most “non-photographers” forget that. Most of the work usually comes after the game. I also had to create a few graphics and, of course, work. Without my normal job, none of this would have been possible, so it’s the least I can do to be reasonably conscientious. But we were really looking forward to Munich and my brother, as well as Madrid. And at that stage of the season, we were still reasonably fit 😉 That changed later and had a big impact on our planning. But we’ll get to that too … exactly … later 😛
We had a really good time at my brother’s for the first time
MUC2MAD - here we go
The next morning, relaxed and refreshed, we headed to the airport and off to Madrid. The weather was crazy. It was stormy, raining and felt like the world was coming to an end. We were worried that the weather would be with us for the whole weekend. Spoiler: That wasn’t the case… but it caught up with us again later. My brother and his girlfriend took us to the airport, where we were about to leave for Madrid.
Yes, we still had our luggage problem. Our solution was to distribute everything as best we could between our two rucksacks. They were brutally full with the equipment and laptop etc. … and above all heavy. We were hoping that if we looked like it wouldn’t be a problem to carry them, none of them would weigh. Because they were both definitely too heavy for hand luggage. We were lucky, we had to unpack everything at the checkpoint, but nobody looked at the weight. Our checked baggage was clear anyway. We then boarded the plane, everything went well up to that point and we were glad that we would be flying away from the bad weather. When I arrived at my seat with legroom, I asked properly for my seatbelt extension. Then the “shock”… I wasn’t allowed to sit in that seat … for safety reasons. It’s the emergency exit … and through the flower, the question about the extension drew attention to my fullness. In short: I’m too fat for the seat with legroom. I was a little worried about what would happen now. But the people at Air Europe were great. Two of us were simply moved to a free row of seats. So I had 2 seats to myself, where I could fold up the middle backrest. So in the end … A Business Class upgrade for free! So really good!
Maria was delighted to be able to hear native Spanish again after many years. The stewardess’s voices sounded like the voices of angels to her!
