This path will not be an easy one
Sure, people always talk about the “Fehervar Enthroners” team, but they still have Budapest in the back of their minds. That’s not entirely wrong, but Budapest and Székesfehérvár are not the same thing. Google Maps and the Apple Maps app both showed us train connections and a subsequent 7-minute walk. Finding the right connection was the first problem. The map apps are obviously not synchronized with the timetables. It was also Saturday. So even in Hungary, the timetables are different at the weekend than during the week.
7 minutes 500m ... no way!
Anyway, our app showed us that it would apparently take us 7 minutes to walk from Székesfehérvár station to the Enthroners’ “First Field”. But that was anything but correct. We then decided to take the bus to a bus stop from which it really should only be 7 minutes. Unfortunately, we didn’t take into account the very small bridge over the tracks with what felt like 100 steps. Just a reminder … we had our luggage and the heavy photo case with us. The bridge and the steps were so wobbly and small that my fear of heights sensors immediately kicked in. Maria couldn’t really carry the suitcases all the way up the steps. I had to do it in stages with both of them. Anyway, when we got down the other side, we found ourselves in a kind of small wooded area. Right next to a club with a really stylish façade. We then only had to pull the suitcases a few hundred meters through gravel and unpaved paths, then we finally arrived at the “First Field”
Finally First Field
Then we arrived at First Field. You won’t find a real “power party” here, as you might expect from other franchises. BUT: There is cool music, there is a stand for drinks and snacks, merch and plenty of benches and tables. So you can see it like this … it’s appropriate and actually very cozy. You practically walk from the stands directly to the grandstand and can even see the field from there. There were quite a few spectators who watched the game from there. I really liked the stadium and the surroundings.
Sure, it’s not a huge arena, but it’s pretty and well maintained. And again, it is simply appropriate. When the fans are there, it seems well filled and the spectators don’t get lost in the vast unoccupied stands. We really liked it there, even if it is a bit out in the sticks. A shuttle from the station would be fantastic. Otherwise, I would recommend traveling by car. There were also a few Vikings fans there. At this point, a huge thank you and shout-out to the cool bunch who changed our money (we didn’t have enough forints with us) and gave us a lot of fun. The prices there were quite reasonable. You can roughly calculate from the price tags in the gallery that 1000ft is around €2.5.
The staff at the Enthroners were incredibly nice and super helpful. Thank you for letting us store our suitcases in your little house. Of course, everything is quite unbureaucratic … but still well organized. The players, coaches and fans were all really nice and approachable. It was also nice to meet Petra Kutasi. Shoutout and we’ll see you again soon.
We can really recommend a visit to the Enthroners to everyone. It’s really worth it! You don’t have to be there 3 hours in advance, there’s no power party, but you can sit in the visitor area for a while beforehand and enjoy the cool snacks and drinks for a small price.
